Assignment 2 Q2

As per the headline in Question #1, was the headline representative of the article? Please explain your reasoning in detail. (4 Marks)

As per the headline in question one- “14 celebrities who many kids have so, there basically running their own daycare, and 11 who said “hmm, hard pass” [i]– yes, the headline was a perfect representation of the article/ the content said in the article. In fact- I was very shocked to believe how straight to the point the article was and how bluntly it outlined exactly what was said I would get in the headline- without all the mumbo-jumbo I typically see when I go on recipe blogs for example.

Why this headline was accurately representative:

  • The article really only talked about the 11 celebrities who don’t Wana have kids (“john cenna and Anna Kendrick for example”[ii]) and the 12 who have a insane number of kids like (“Eddie murphy who has 10 and Mia farrow who has 12”[iii])- meaning it was a very clear and direct article- that delivered exactly what they promised with no clickbait etc.
  • It was very digestible, easy to read/ “scan” and it did not have any unnecessary fluff or long intros. It was concise and to the point
  • The writing style in the actual article kind of matched the vibe of the headline- as the tone/ style was casual, humours but also very straightforward- which made it engaging and intriguing
  • This article uses the F pattern. Though there is not a lot of text in the article- where there are blurbs of text – the f pattern was used making it optimized for digital viewing/ scannable for readers. Additionally, the overall format of this article was easy to follow, was organized as it listed the celebrities in two categories (who don’t want kids and those who have a crazy number of kids), and also used a appropriate grade 6 reading level it seems.
  • Met my expectations – there was no clickbait or misleading phrases like ive experienced before. Everything from the headline was delivered/ touched on.
  • Even though the topic of this article is not really like important and more so serves as a beckon for curiosity/ news on nosey topics- the article defiantly satisfied that and was informative on topics while also satisfying curiosity created from the headline
